In an effort to get out more and just walk around some, we headed to Asbury Park to enjoy the boardwalk and Friday night bonfire on the beach. We left just before the rain started. When the rain stopped next day, the air was humid and damp, we took a walk with Zoey around the block and through the local cemetery.
Sunday was an adventure to unknown territory. We headed to Hartshorne Park in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. For the sights and walking, this place is great!
We spent a few hours walking around all the paths we could find, walking down to the Navesink River where it meets the ocean, walking through Hartshorne woods, and through the large decommissioned Navy batteries.
We accidentally found ourselves walking part of the black diamond “Hartshorne Woods Park” trail, as well as some other shorter, paved trails around the views. We slow to catch our breath walking into the underground Battery Lewis, where you can see ammunition storage chambers, latrines, and other quarters opened to the public that provides tons of history information!
For a decent hike with some great views, I would definitely recommend checking this place out!
