This year’s quick Fall vacation destination was the Finger Lakes, particularly Penn Yan, New York, for some hiking, sightseeing, brewery and winery tasting, and some rest & relaxation.
As the leaves were well into their changing for the season, it still made for wonderful views and hiking. The old remnants of mills from the area, and marked hiking paths, gave us plenty to look forward to on our hikes.
We walked through the village of Penn Yan, checking the local restaurants and never had a bad meal! Between towns and villages were farms as far as the eye could see. It felt like there was a different brewery or winery every couple miles in any direction. We stopped to try a fair amount of beers and wines, without disappointment.
Overall, if you’re looking for a cozy, quiet town, with delicious food, great sights and hiking, and amazing beers and/or wines, I cannot recommend Penn Yan in the Finger Lakes enough. Fairly central to a lot of great destinations you’ll definitely want to check out, I’ll absolutely be going back to check out even more I didn’t have time to see / taste this past visit!
