A snap decision to venture off for a few days, led me to the crisp air and beautiful colored, leafy sites of Bar Harbor, Maine.
I didn’t get to stay on the island, but driving around during the day, I realized the tourism here is real, and with the amount of people buzzing around all hours of the day, I realized my 10 minute drive to the harbor wasn’t so bad.
My first couple days were a bit wet and rainy. This made for a bunch of gray skies and slippery rocks, but the hiking was excellent and the sites were amazing. After getting my steps in, it was time to find food and if you’re a seafood fan, the local restaurants will not disappoint!
When the storms broke, the skies lit up, and the color all around was like I’ve never seen. Whether I was standing at the edge of a pond looking up into the mountains, or staring across the endless seas of fall colors, it’s impossible to grow tired of the sights.
Making my way around the entire island, Mt Desert, Southwest Harbor, and up through Somesville, I found a lot of good food and great sites.
I wish I had more time here, and I wish I brought more lenses. Hiking all day with a bunch of gear feels like nothing when you’re taking in the gorgeous views and breathing that clean Maine air.
If you enjoy breathtaking views, endless hiking, amazing seafood, and I’ll say again, those views, go check out Bar Harbor, Maine!
